Deutsche Post acquires Adcloud
- Service range in online advertising market expanded
- Performance marketing specialist Adcloud to remain independent
Cologne/Bonn, April 4, 2011: Deutsche Post is acquiring the Cologne-based company Adcloud GmbH, a special provider of performance marketing solutions for the online advertising market. In taking this step, Deutsche Post will further expand its range of services in the rapidly growing online advertising market and strengthen its position as a neutral provider who can efficiently place and market online advertising.
Jürgen Gerdes, the member of the Management Board who oversees the MAIL Division of Deutsche Post DHL, said of the transaction: “The acquisition of Adcloud follows our takeover of Europe’s largest targeting platform, nugg.ad, and represents another critically important strategic step that will help us become a strong service provider in the high-potential market of online advertising.”
By acquiring Adcloud, Deutsche Post is enhancing its online-marketing business unit with an innovative, highly successful range of services that simplify and create transparency in processes related to the management of online advertising campaigns.
As a subsidiary of Deutsche Post, Adcloud will remain independent and retain its current management: “Together with Deutsche Post, we can continue to effectuate our vision of developing an open, neutral market where online advertisements and ad space in digital media can be optimally traded,” said Henning Lange, the Managing Director of Adcloud.
Adcloud helps agencies and marketers refine their advertising business: Adcloud clients gain access to a flexible technology platform, including an open, transparent marketplace for the exchange of online advertising. The players can easily buy and sell advertising space, maintaining complete control of their advertising space and their campaigns in the process. This optimization not only helps agencies and, thus, advertisers to more efficiently use their budgets, but also enables marketers to generate higher average income.
Performance marketing employs a success-based form of billing for advertising, including cost-per-click, cost-per-lead or cost-per-order. As a result, advertising clients and media agencies have greater control over success and can more efficiently use their budgets and continue to boost return on investment (ROI) of their advertising steps. Adcloud provides clients with fair pricing and the desired market transparency.
Adcloud’s clients include highly respected agencies, leading marketers and quality Web sites. The company serves clients in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Spain. Adcloud was established at the beginning of 2009 by DMT Holding, with the Managing Partners Henning Lange and Oliver Thylmann. It employs 20 people. It will remain based in Cologne.
